1.1 pound pouch (500 grams) of Chinese Angelica Root from the top, or head, of the root. Dang Gui is the Pin Yin Name. Angelica Sinensis is the Botanical name. These are rather large pieces: thicker than my thumb and 2 to 3 inches long. As the picture shows, these are chunks. The aroma is slightly peppery smell.
