Product Description

Krill Oil contains Omega - 3 Phospholipid fatty acids while fish oil is rich in Omega-3 Triglyceride fatty acids. Both are beneficial sources of Omega-3 but Krill Oil offers an additional advantage- it has greater bioavailability for cell growth and function. By contrast, Krill Oil is not dependent on bile for digestion. It can spontaneously form micelles and can be conveyed in an aqueous environment. The major difference is fish oil requires emulsification by bile salts via the formation of micelles. Unlike fish oils, Krill oil is directly absorbed by intestinal epithelia for distribution via blood plasma. Fish oil needs help from the lymphatic system to be transported. Organika's Krill Oil is sourced from the pristine cold waters of Antarctica, under the strict environmental guidelines. Krill are small shrimp like crustaceans. They constitute one of the most abundant sources of marine nutrients on earth. Biomass of Krill in the world's oceans is estimated at 400-500 metric tons. This is maintained through high reproduction rates and access to planktonic algae. The harvesting of krill is regulated by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). The total allowable catch is about 1 % of the total krill biomass annually.
