Product Description

Vitamin K + D 120 mcg/1000 IU Support Bone Health Insufficient vitamin K associated with low bone density and fracture risk Vitamin K is a group of fat-soluble vitamins first recognized for their role in blood clotting. It was thought that deficiencies of vitamin K were rare, but new studies show vitamin K deficiencies in tissues such as bone and blood vessels can exist even in otherwise healthy adults. Vitamin K supports bone development by regulating and directing calcium use in the tissues. Vitamin D supports calcium absorption and boosts bone mineral density. From birth to old age, vitamin D plays a central role in bone growth and maintenance. Scientific evidence suggests that age-related changes in the body's ability to synthesize, absorb, and metabolize vitamin D may contribute to osteoporosis. Vitamin D stimulates bone matrix formation and bone growth, as well as enhancing osteoclast activity (osteoclasts break down bone tissue and are responsible for bone resorption). Together with parathyroid hormones, vitamin D regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism and promotes calcium absorption from the intestines. Vitamin D depletion severely limits calcium absorption. Vitamin D also prevents excessive urinary calcium loss from the kidneys. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
